Koh Ker Temple Almost an archaeological park in its own right, the 10^th-century koh ker complex,a former khmer capital 125 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap, contains almost a hundred monuments,including the impressive Prasat Thom, a seven-tiered pyramid in mined,in the jungle clearing . the area is still being de mined and despite good road connections, relatively few visitors make it out here.

Itinerary:

7.30- 10am: Traveling by care, you make an early start for the fascinating journey through beautiful countryside to the Preah Vihear province and the Koh Ker temple complex. The journey passes many traditional villages with wooden, thatched houses on stilts and farm animals including wallowing water buffalo.You will also pass through many banana plantations with excellent mountain views and see a fascinating range of local transport including ox cart.Be prepared for a rough last hour as the paved road stops at the end of Siem Reap.
10 - 12pm:

Explore the outstanding, wild ruins of Koh Ker in splendid isolation from other tourists and without the usual Angkor 'hassle factor'! This previous capital of Cambodia has a range of interesting sites and it's highlight is a seven tier pyramidal platform that is reminiscent of Inca or Mayan temples.
